At TeeGee Digital, we have been busy redesigning Aquaglow Waterbeds’ OpenCart website. Aquaglow Waterbeds are a company that are based in Preston and sell waterbeds along with a whole host of waterbed accessories. The client came to us in need of a responsive ecommerce website design a few years ago. We developed the site using OpenCart to ensure that the site could offer a secure means of payment to customers in addition to being very easy-to-navigate. However, after a few years of using the site, the client asked us for a face lift to give the site a fresh, new look.
After accepting the challenge, we got straight to work on the redesign. We decided to continue using OpenCart so that we could carry across the sites products, orders, customers and so on. The client was also happy to carry on using OpenCart and didn’t want to switch to another platform. With this in mind, we were able to use the vast amount of plugins and templates to create a unique, professional design that reflects Aquaglow Waterbeds perfectly. First of all, we designed the homepage adding professionally taken images to showcase the clients products in the best light. We also added customer testimonials to aid consumer confidence before designing a shopping section that explains the easy steps involved to buy a waterbed mattress.
Starting the redesign
With a completely new homepage, we moved on to the product page. The standard OpenCart product page is sometimes quite dull and so, we needed to fix that! We changed the colours, fonts and image slider to match the sites branding and stand out from any other ecommerce stores. We also created a review section that shows the customer reviews as well as adding featured images to the product images drop-down menu.
Finally, the site needed to be fully responsive on all devices to make sure that customers would be able to access it from anywhere. It would also help the website to reach the best possible positions in search engine results.
